On her preparation for the finals, Appiah says, “I’m nervous and excited at the same time. I’m going to try my best. I believe that what I’m going there with is unique.

“I’m multi-talented. I hope that that’s going to give me an advantage.”

A Fashion student at Radford University College in Ghana and model, the 21-year-old Appiah won the Miss Talent Ghana and Top Model Ghana competitions in 2012 and 2013 respectively.

Appiah also sings, writes her own music, and plays the guitar, and with five singles to her credit, she is working on an album scheduled for release in 2015.

Her life philosophy?

“Strive hard to achieve your goals no matter the circumstances.”

The 63rd Miss Universe pageant finals is on January 25, 2015, at Florida International University (FIU) Arena in Doral, Miami. The reigning Miss Universe is Venezuelan Gabriel Islers.
