The Nigerian singer talks about how she decided to embrace her natural hair after her wig came off during a workout class. “It was so embarrassing,” she said adding, “but I am grateful because that was the moment I decided to stop trying to fit in and embrace my natural hair.” Since then, the musician has tried so many natural styles, including her hallmark pom-pom plaits, which she said was inspired by a black-and-white photo she found of a Fulani woman with intricately styled puffs in her hair. “After some trial and error and reimagining, my signature look was born,” she said. “I love this style because it’s fun, edgy, and super low-maintenance.”
