Artificial foods from the West and Asia that are a threat to local African commodities

Genetically Modified Foods (GMO)

According to the WHO, GMOs are “organisms (i.e. plants, animals or microorganisms) in which the genetic material (DNA) has been altered in a way that does not occur naturally by mating and/or natural recombination.”

In as much as GMO foods have been deemed healthy, questions still arise as to why they should be preferred to naturally grown/reared crops or animals that are obviously healthier to consume.
