Cardi B has another win in her bag after making Hot 100 history with “WAP”, her song with Megan Thee Stallion. She has landed her first high fashion campaign with Balenciaga. We all know that dreams do come true only if you believe and really work towards them. Also, we ought to speak into existence the good things we want for ourselves and the universe will bring them to us.
In 2018, the “WAP” rapper told us she likes “dollars, diamonds, stunting, shining, million-dollar deals, and those Balenciagas “that look like socks” in her hit song “I Like It.”
Well, she got to wear her Balenciaga sock-like boots. Her billboard is splashed on the side of the Louvre in Paris as part of the high fashion brand’s fall 2020 campaign that has been running since July.
The 27-year-old shared a photo of the ad on Instagram on Tuesday. “Ya lookin at the face of a @Balenciaga campaign!” Cardi captioned her post. “I remember how I felt seeing myself on a billboard in NYC Times Square but PARIS! Wish I was there to see it in person!”
Cardi B was styled by Balenciaga’s creative director Demna Gvasalia who usually uses his friends or lesser-known models in his campaigns. This campaign is the first time he is using a celebrity since he took the reigns in 2015.
Cardi B wore “a liquid-y black evening gown with an asymmetric neckline, built-in gloves, and, of course, shoes that look like socks to match. It’s all topped with a sharp and shiny bob.”
During the lockdown, a lot was achieved including the photo for this ad shot by the rapper herself. It could explain the chill Kulture inspired setting. She is seen lying in a backyard surrounded by toys and a single white Balenciaga Neo Classic handbag.
Aside from giving us ‘Wet Ass Paris’ vibes on an exterior wall of the Louvre Museum which will be up all September, the ad campaign will run in Taiwan, China, South Korea, Singapore and Thailand, a spokeswoman told WWD.
