Authorities in Chicago have brought charges against a 31-year-old woman after she allegedly unleashed two aggressive dogs on police officers who were investigating a case. According to Fox News, the Sunday incident occurred at the 4000 block of West Wilcox Avenue in West Garfield Park.

The suspect, identified as Vernia Jones, allegedly unleashed the dogs on the police officers in an attempt to intervene in the investigation that was being undertaken. “Three officers sustained dog bites, and an officer discharged their weapon striking the canine,” the Chicago Police Department said in a statement.

The condition of the officers was listed as good at the time they were being taken to a hospital. Jones has since been charged with one felony count of aggravated battery of a peace officer, the Chicago Police Department said. She has also been charged with two misdemeanor counts of resisting or obstructing a peace officer.
