A 29-year-old Detroit man is facing a slew of charges after he allegedly stole a vehicle before later forcing his 11-year-old daughter to assist him commit a home burglary.
Per CBS News, authorities said the suspect, identified as Andre Stephon-Curtis Broadenax, initially stole a 52-year-old Dearborn Heights man’s car on April 29 before forcing entry into the home of a 75-year-old man.
“On April 29, 2025, at approximately 8:43 p.m., it is alleged that Defendant Broadnex was in possession of the 52-year-old victim’s vehicle when he forced entry into the 75-year-old victim’s home in the 600 block of Marquette Drive in Detroit, before fleeing the scene on foot,” the the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement.
“It is also alleged that the defendant forced his 11-year-old daughter to assist him with the home invasion. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant a short time later.”
Broadenax has since been charged with first-degree home invasion, second-degree home invasion, larceny in a building, receiving and concealing a motor vehicle, inducing a minor to commit a felony and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Authorities said the 29-year-old suspect was arraigned in the 36th District Court on May 2, and he was given a $75,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether and house arrest. His bond was later increased to $150,000 cash/surety with a GPS tether and house arrest.
In 2024, Face2Face Africa reported that Georgia authorities had arrested and charged a woman after footage showed her urging her 7-year-old daughter to steal a purse that had been left at the booth of a restaurant they had gone to.
According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the March 2024 incident occurred at The Juicy Crab, a busy restaurant in Newnan, Georgia. The suspect, identified as Kenya Butler, and her three children were part of a group that had gone to the restaurant to dine.
Det. Taylor Dalton of the Newnan Police Department said that Butler was identified as the “offender in this case” after the “story aired in the media.” The suspect was ultimately charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and theft by taking. Her 7-year-old daughter was eventually absolved of any wrongdoing.
