Eight-year-old Myles Dantzler, a third grader from Detroit, has proven that intelligence knows no age limit. He has been accepted into Mensa, the highly respected society for individuals with exceptionally high IQs. His achievement is a source of great pride for his parents and his community.
Currently attending Bates Academy in Detroit, Myles also pursues his love of learning at home by watching educational YouTube videos on various subjects, including dinosaurs and geography.
“There’s an underwater country called Zealandia. It’s actually the eighth continent,” Myles told Click On Detroit, sharing one of his many fascinating facts.

Myles’s parents noticed his exceptional abilities right away. He learned quickly, showed advanced curiosity, and absorbed information faster than other children his age.
“When he started reading words that I couldn’t read or correcting me when I was reading books to him, I was like, okay, this is it,” Jamilla Johnson, Myles’s mother, stated.
At only eight years old, Myles has secured a position in Mensa.
“I got one of the highest scores on the IQ test,” Myles said. “It makes me really proud of myself.”
Membership in Mensa will provide Myles with chances to intellectually challenge himself and network with like-minded individuals.
“It was well earned and well deserved,” Elinka Lewandowski, Myles’s reading teacher, told the outlet.
“This gives him a lot of opportunities to really stretch his intellect and that IQ,” added Benjamin Higgins, his science and social studies teacher.
Other students have been inspired by Myles’s achievement to set higher goals and dedicate themselves to harder work.

Natelege Sims, his accelerated math teacher, recounted, “I think they’re really excited. A couple of them were asking, ‘What does it mean? And how can I do it?”
Myles, despite his extraordinary intellect, remains a typical 8-year-old who loves playing with his siblings, enjoying video games, and engaging with his toys.
“He’s just a kind-hearted, great kid all around,” said Michael Dantzler, Myles’s father.
Mensa shared a statement about Myles, writing, “Myles has been a welcome addition to the Mensa family, which is reinforcing the potent education he’s receiving at Bates Academy. We’re thrilled for him and his family.
“Gifted youth represent our largest segment of new members and for good reason. American Mensa understands their challenges and tremendous potential, providing a host of resources and a supportive community.”
