First wife of DMX shares his last words to her before his death

Rapper and actor DMX may not be here with us physically, but his legacy lives on through his works and family. His first wife, Tashera Simmons, has opened up about his last words when she appeared on People Every Day podcast. She also spoke about how their children are having a difficult time mourning the loss of their father.

Simons, 50, and DMX met when they were preteens and got married from 1999 to 2014. The pair had four children, three sons Xavier, 28, Tacoma, 21, Sean,18, and a daughter Praise, 16.

“I am torn. Our children are suffering and trying to get to over that ‘not enough time with their dad’ thing; it’s a tough time,” she said during the podcast last week.

Simmons went on to say she never truly understood why DMX was so calm about dying, a thought many people avoid entirely. Sadly, he had to pass on for her to comprehend what he meant and believes he is in a better place.

“At the same time … I used to think that this was insensitive to say, but I do believe he is in a better place, just because of the words he left me with. He was never afraid of passing on. And I used to be aggravated with that, but now I understand.”

“Me and him had a conversation six days before it happened,” she explained. “The conversations that we had were very different from most of our conversations. We always got deep.

“Every time we’ve seen each other we just dig deep, because it’s the bond that we had. And this time in particular, he was just talking randomly, ‘Tashera, you know I’m here only for the world. This is what God has created me to be. I’m a vessel for the world.”‘

Simmons said she had come to see DMX to discuss parenting duties. “It started off as saying, ‘We’ve got to get it together for the kids. I want you to be more a part of their lives and take the time’,” she said. “So he just randomly said that so I said, ‘Well what do you mean by that, Early?'”

“‘Tashera, my words have always fell on deaf ears,'” he said, ‘and God put me here for the world, so my voice will be stronger when I’m gone,'” Simmons recounted.  She said at the time she didn’t “100 percent get it”.

“I was so frustrated, but when I heard the news six days later, I just broke down in tears to be honest with you. I almost had a heart attack myself,” she said.

Born in 1970 in Mount Vernon, New York, the Grammy-nominated star died on April 9 at age 50 after suffering a heart attack in a New York hospital.

The first of a special two-part episode of TV One’s always-revealing Uncensored aired Sunday night. It featured an interview with the prolific rapper barely three weeks before his untimely death. The second part of the interview airs this weekend.

“I didn’t know that it was filmed. When they called me, I didn’t realize that this was the last interview that he’d done,” said Simmons.

“And the things that he talked about in it were so powerful to them, stories that he spoke about of myself and him that I didn’t even remember until … they had to replay it.”

In the wake of the death of the “Ruff Ryders Anthem” rapper, social media was filled up with tributes to the rapper. Fans and supporters while mourning his death have also been looking into his life story and musical legacy

“Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart, and we cherish the times we spent with him,” his family wrote in a statement following his death. “Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever.”

His career in the music industry started in the late 1990s and he released his debut album “It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot” in 1998. He sold more than 200,000 copies within the first week and according to Celebrity Net Worth, the album has sold more than five million copies to date.
