Bob Marley
One of the most influential figures from the Caribbean, Robert Nesta Marley, popularly known as Bob Marley was considered the pioneer of reggae. His unique blend of reggae, ska, and rocksteady made him a household name several years after his death.
Born in Jamaica, he began his professional career in 1963 after he formed the music group, Bob Marley and The Wailers. In 1977, Marley had acral lentiginous melanoma, skin cancer. He died four years later in Miami, Florida.
