Dominica is one of the youngest islands in the Caribbean, aged about 26 million years old.
Located south of Guadeloupe and northwest of Martinique, Dominica is known for its luscious rainforests and warm, tropical climate. Consequently, it is one of the top destinations for many who want sun and sand.
It is also home to some of the richest cultural traditions in the world, combining aspects from the Kalinago, French, and English—reflecting the power struggles of the last 500 years that ended with their independence on this day in 1978.
