Trey Songz’s legal representative has denied allegations that the singer assaulted and injured a photographer during an event in New York.
Per TMZ, the incident occurred at the Ivy in Huntington on Sunday, and police have since launched an investigation into the alleged assault. The photographer, identified as Isaa Mansoor, told the news outlet that he was at the establishment to record video for the owner, adding that he saw Trey and an entourage enter.
Mansoor said that while Trey was performing, the owner told him to record a video, adding that the Bottoms Up singer knew the owner had informed photographers to capture the event.
But Trey, 40, and some other people reportedly got into an altercation, and the singer took issue with fans wanting to take photos and videos with him. The owner also told Mansoor to take a final picture of Trey when the event came to a wrap. But Mansoor claimed that Trey assaulted him when he started taking a video. He said the Heart Attack singer punched him in the head, pushed him to a wall, and damaged his two cameras.
The photographer also said that when the owner informed Trey that the man he allegedly assaulted was his guy, the singer replied, “I don’t give a f***.” Trey is also said to have clenched his fist and confronted the owner.
In the wake of the alleged assault, Mansoor said he and a friend drove away before he reported Trey to the police. Mansoor also subsequently had a CT scan and X-rays at a hospital, and it was established that he had suffered a migraine, ankle pain, as well as a concussion, TMZ reported. He was given medication.
But Trey’s legal representative, Ted Anastasiou, told the news outlet that the singer was rather the victim.
“The media is unfairly turning an unfinished story into clickbait to sell a new headline. That’s lazy and unfair,” Anastasiou said. “What happened at The Ivy was the result of increasingly aggressive paparazzi invading an artist’s personal space, conduct that puts everyone at risk and a trend that’s impacting not just Trey but artists everywhere. Trey disputes the characterization of events, is cooperating fully with authorities, and looks forward to the facts, not speculation, speaking for themselves.”
