Endemic corruption in Haiti’s government

The Petrocaribe scandal is just one of the other corruption scandals to hit Haiti’s three-year-old government. The PHTK and leader Moise, have not been able to rid themselves of an age-old problem.

But it is the spectacular nature of the Petrocaribe scandal that has made the camel’s back-breaking straw.

When Venezuela offered to sell oil on the cheap for Haiti, the Caribbeans cut provisions for state welfare programs to make the purchase possible. But the monies have been untraceable afterward.
