It is a generational disconnection
Haiti appears to be undergoing a redefinition of national priorities if demographic statistics are anything to go by. The country has a population of roughly 11 million and the bulk majority is under 59 years.
In 2010, a breakdown of age demographics put those under the age of 15 at over 36%. This means the younger generation that grew through the devastation of the 2010 crisis is now more than 1 in 3 Haitians.
Coupled with the factor of social media, Haiti seems to have reached a point where young people may no longer be ignored.
