Gabrielle Union recently opened up about cheating in her first marriage to former NFL player Chris Howard. Appearing on Dax Shepard and Monica Padman’s “Armchair Expert” podcast, the 50-year-old, who labeled her first marriage as “dysfunctional”, said she felt “entitled” to cheat on Howard.

“I was paying all the bills, I was working my ass off and I felt like that’s what comes [with it],” the Bring it On actress said. She also labeled adultery as “the spoils of riches.” “Like my dad before me, whoever has the most gets to do whatever the hell they want, is what I thought,” she added.

Union and her first husband went their separate ways in 2006 after tying the knot in 2001. She claimed Howard also cheated when they were together. “Neither one of us felt like our marriage should get in the way of our dating,” she said on a lighter note.

“Part of it was keeping up with his activities,” she added. “I was like, ‘Oh, that’s what you’re doing? Oh, you’re gonna feel this one.’”

Union also referred to her relationship with Howard as “stupid”, adding that it “should have never gotten out of the dating phase.” The veteran actress, who is currently married to former NBA star Dwyane Wade, also said that she and her ex-husband had “not one thing in common, no morals, no values, no scruples.”

During that marriage, the Think Like A Man star said she was horny for validation.” “Having certain kinds of guys like me and want me … made me feel like I was worthy and good and valuable and deserving,” she revealed.

But that appears to be in the past, as she said she’s now her “own motherf–king validation … and prize.” Union and Wade married in 2014. Their first daughter, Kaavia, was born through a surrogate in 2018.
