A LaGrange, Georgia, man is being praised after his selfless act saved countless lives. 22-year-old Zion Reed jumped into action after realizing that a driver in LaGrange had suffered a seizure on the road, with the driver’s car swerving into oncoming traffic and about to hurt people near the entrance of the Bryant Lake subdivision on Highway 27.

Without thinking twice about his safety, Reed sprinted toward the moving car, threw open the door and dove headfirst inside for the brakes. While the vehicle was still in motion, Reed got to the floorboard and slammed the brake with his hand, ultimately stopping the vehicle, 11Alive reported.

Reed’s brave act stopped the car just feet before colliding with a fully loaded dump truck.

Eyewitness Drew Gardner, who is the wrestling coach at the Troup County School District, said he saw the car moving the wrong way and being out of control. Gardner said the driver was suffering a seizure behind the wheel, vomiting and couldn’t stop the vehicle.

Reed intervened before Gardner could get to the car himself. “He absolutely saved lives today,” Gardner said. “I was amazed by Zion’s courage and bravery. I’m so grateful for his actions.”

Reed kept the driver safe until emergency responders arrived.

“This young man is so deserving to be recognized as a hero today,” Gardner said. “In a world full of chaos, we need more people like Zion. His selfless act made a life-saving difference.”

Gardner’s community members agree with him and are asking that Reed be praised for his courageous act.
