Winnie Harlow (1994 – Present)
Chantelle Brown-Young, aka Winnie Harlow, is a Canadian fashion model, spokesperson, and activist. Her skin condition, Vitiligo, which she has had since age 4, causes her to stand out among her black counterparts, and has given her an extraordinary advantage in the fashion industry.
Growing up, Harlow was teased and bullied because of her different looks. She encountered Toronto journalist, Shannon Booodram, who encouraged her to start modeling. Her appearance on the America’s Next Top Model show boosted her career and brought her fame, even though she didn’t emerge as the winner.
Today, she works with popular brands like Marc Jacobs, Tommy Hilfiger, and Victoria’s Secret, and has also appeared on the cover of many magazines.
Notable among her achievements is her passion and advocacy for vitiligo and alternative beauty, as well as inclusivity in the fashion industry.
