Fort Batenstsein – Ghana

The Fort sits on a high hill behind a village in the Western Region of Ghana called Butre built by the Dutch in 1656. The fort offers a spectacular view of the Atlantic Coastline.  The fort did not realize its objective of being a trade centre but was utilized as a ship repairing site until it was captured by the British on the 6th of April, 1872.
