A father-of-two who was battling stage four colon cancer was brutally murdered in a senseless street random attack outside of a McDonald’s on February 24.
48-year-old Larry Evans was found unconscious and unable to breathe while suffering from what seemed like a gunshot wound on Benning Road five minutes after midnight.
Initial responders attempted to save him, yet he was pronounced dead minutes after at the scene, as per DC News Now.
After further investigations were conducted, police discovered surveillance footage that showed a light-colored sedan pulling up near the McDonald’s.
The footage was released by the Metropolitan Police Department last week and it shows a man walking near the eatery wearing a black hoodie, pants, shoes, black-and-white sneakers and a mask.
Authorities have identified the man as a person of interest after surveillance footage captured him walking inside the restaurant.
The suspect was seen fleeing to a light-colored sedan after the shooting, entering the passenger side before the vehicle sped away.
Evans’ family members told Fox 5 that he was a funny and loving father of two daughters.
One relative said they have no idea why he was on Benning Road that night, and his family have been left stunned by his unexpected death and why it came about.
