Selecting from captured women
During the days of ancient Africa, kingdoms thrived and expanded through attacking and capturing weaker kingdoms. While many of the men were killed or made to become warriors of their new king, the women and children were made wives or servants of soldiers. If a king was without a wife or felt to have a second wife, he often made the first pick of any young beautiful captive that he liked. Queens picked by this method were usually not the stool or ceremonial queens but were given royal treatment, a room in the king’s palace and addressed as queen.
