Bestowed
Kings also often got their queens through the method of Bestowing. Often times, female daughters are given to royalty as a sign of respect or payback by a commoner. When a criminal is pardoned, or a person in debt is set free by the king, the king is rewarded with a daughter from the family. Many of these girls bestowed at birth are trained as queen-to-be until they are ready to take the thrown. Many Kings preferred to choose their own wives but kept their end of the bargain by having children to enhance the social status of these women.
