Singer and daytime talk show host Jennifer Hudson recently put her boyfriend Common on the spot over his previous comments about marrying her. The rapper and actor, however, did not budge and made her know he absolutely remembered what he said.
During a previous appearance on The Breakfast Club, Common, 52, touched on his relationship with Hudson, 43, and showered praises on her. “With all due respect to all the women I’ve dated, it’s all love, but this is a really healthy and beautiful relationship, bro,” he said at the time.
Common was also asked about the possibility of marrying the If This Isn’t Love singer – which he answered in the affirmative. “I mean, if I’m gonna get married it’s to her. That’s as simple as that,” he stated.

It appears Common’s comments caught the ear of Hudson as she brought the topic up when her beau appeared on her eponymous show this week. “I heard you’ve been even out there talking about marriage. What’s that about?” she asked Common on The Jennifer Hudson Show, per CNN.

“You know what, you told me a quote that your mother said, ‘A man knows what he wants,’” Common, whose real name is Lonnie Rashid Lynn, replied. “I was saying my true feelings about, listen, Jennifer is the person.”
“If I should be married, it will be to Jennifer Kate Hudson,” the John Wick: Chapter 2 star reiterated. “I was just being honest.”
The audience responded with a loud applause, and Hudsoon looked clearly happy. Common and Hudson were said to have become romantically involved in 2022 before they made their relationship public on her show at the beginning of this year.
“I’m in a relationship that is with one of the most beautiful people I’ve met in life,” the Kingdom rapper said when Hudson asked if there was someone in his life. “She’s smart, she loves God, she has something real down to earth about her. She’s talented.”
“To me, it’s one of those things where I found where seeing her happy actually makes me really happy,” he also said. “I’m very grateful. I thank God every day and I’m just letting God guide this relationship.”
