Oh, I did provoke him. Absolutely!

In an interview with The Guardian in 2015 to promote her memoir I’ll Never Write My Memoirs, Jones was asked about her tumultuous relationship with Goude. In her book, she had mentioned that both she and Goude had been moved to violence in the affair that lasted nearly a decade.

The interviewer, mindful of the tensions inherent in discussions about women and domestic abuse, tried to encourage a response that indicted Goude’s apparent lack of restraint. But Jones was having none of it, lest she is portrayed as the weaker sex.

“Oh, I did provoke him. Absolutely! I provoked him to get his attention,” she exclaimed, owning up to her participation in the volatility.

In her memoir, Jones even recalls getting back to rigorous exercising shortly after having her son to prove to Goude that, as she told The Guardian, she was not “the stereotype of when a woman has a child and it’s an excuse to get out of shape.”
