An Indian parliamentary delegation, comprising representatives from all major political parties and led by Supriya Sule of the NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), has completed a series of high-level meetings with South African leaders in Cape Town.
The primary goal of the visit was to underline India’s united stance against terrorism and strengthen international cooperation on the issue.
The delegation held a significant discussion with Deputy Minister Kenneth Morolong, where they laid out India’s approach to counter-terrorism.

This includes a strong emphasis on holding not just perpetrators but also those who support or enable terrorism accountable. The South African side expressed commitment to relay India’s concerns to the highest level of leadership.
As part of their engagements, the Indian MPs met with John Steenhuisen, leader of South Africa’s Democratic Alliance (DA) and current Minister of Agriculture.
The conversation focused on recent global terror threats, including the Pahalgam attack, and India’s response, known as Operation Sindoor.
The DA leadership expressed their understanding of India’s position and showed support for its counter-terror strategy.

The delegation also interacted with the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on International Relations and Cooperation. During the meeting, chaired by Supra Mahumapelo, Indian lawmakers gave detailed insights into the nature and impact of the Pahalgam terror attack.
They explained that Operation Sindoor was a targeted and restrained move designed to neutralise threats without escalating tensions.
Earlier in the visit, the group met with P. (Les) Govender, Deputy Chairperson of South Africa’s National Council of Provinces (NCOP), who hosted the delegation.
The gathering included a moment of silence in honour of the lives lost in the Pahalgam incident. The NCOP acknowledged India’s firm anti-terrorism policy and extended solidarity.
The visit also featured a warm interaction with the Indian community in Johannesburg.

The delegation praised the diaspora’s ongoing support in raising awareness and backing India’s efforts against terrorism. They highlighted the importance of collective unity in addressing global terror networks.
The team included representatives from multiple Indian political parties: BJP’s Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Anurag Thakur, and V. Muraleedharan; Congress’s Manish Tewari and Anand Sharma; Telugu Desam Party’s Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu; Aam Aadmi Party’s Vikramjeet Singh Sawhney; and former diplomat Syed Akbaruddin.
