Sherone Simpson, Jamaican Olympic sprinter has been suspended for 18 months after testing positive for oxilofrine at the Jamaican trials last year. She has maintained her innocence citing the positive test was caused by a supplement provided by her Canadian trainer Chris Xuereb.

The Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission voted unanimously that she was “negligent in all the circumstances”.

She is not alone as her training partner, Asafa Powell tested positive for the same stimulant at last year’s national championships. They will both miss the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in July.

In a statement to the Press Association Sport Doyle said “We feel that this ruling is incredibly unjust and we will be appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport immediately.”

What are your thoughts on the ruling?
