Janet Jackson’s iconic outfit from her “If” music video recently went up for sale. And guess who purchased it? Kim Kardashian. Call it a mere coincidence, but the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star bought the outfit just in time for Janet’s 55th birthday.

“Happy Birthday Queen!” Kim wrote on Instagram alongside a clip of the singer wearing the iconic outfit. “For @janetjackson’s bday bc I’m such a fan I can’t believe I won this on @juliens_auctions.”

“Thank u so much @kimkardashian!,” the “Nasty” singer responded to Kim on her Instagram page. “I hope ‘IF’ gives u as much pleasure as it did me,” she wrote.

Janet first wore the outfit in her 1993 “If” music video. But it was put up for sale by Juliens Auctions a few days before the birthday wish by Kim. When the auction was completed, the auction house did not reveal the identity of the buyer.

“SOLD for $25,000! A custom-made top with a pair of black pants, both worn by Janet Jackson in her 1993 award-winning “If” music video. Sold in our “Iconic Treasures from the Legendary Career and Life of Janet Jackson,” Juliens Auction said on Twitter.

However, we now know Kim bought the outfit and for a whopping $25,000. For many who know the relationship between Kim and the Jackson family, the purchase may not come as a surprise. Kim previously dated Michael Jackson’s nephew T.J. Jackson. They even attended programs together.

Also, she and her estranged husband, Kanye West, purchased a velvet jacket once worn by Michael for North, their first daughter, at the cost of $65,000. Michael adorned the jacket in his 1988 music video for “Smooth Criminal.”

“Thank you and congratulations to @kimkardashian for her win of @janetjackson’s “If” music video worn ensemble in our “Iconic Treasures from the Legendary Career and Life of Janet Jackson” Juliens Auction tweeted at Kim after she revealed that she purchased the outfit.

According to Page Six, a portion of the proceeds realized from the sale of the outfit will go toward Compassion International, a nonprofit organization that provides aid to children in need.
