During his first interview after his domestic violence conviction, Jonathan Majors revealed he was sexually abused by “both men and women” during his childhood. The past few years have been tumultuous for the Creed III star as his legal woes negatively impacted his budding career.
As previously reported by Face2Face Africa, Majors, 35, was arrested in New York in March 2023 after his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari accused him of attacking and injuring her. But Majors maintained his innocence in the aftermath of the incident.
In December 2023, Majors was found guilty of one count of assault and one count of harassment but was acquitted of another count of assault and one aggravated harassment count. He, however, avoided jail time as he was sentenced to domestic violence programming in April 2024.
Majors in his recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter revealed that he went through therapy following his trial and conviction, adding that the treatment ultimately made him face his childhood traumas.
“I dealt with sexual abuse from both men and women from the time I was 9,” said Majors, who also indicated that he suffered depression during adulthood because of that. “From people who are supposed to look after you, in the absence of a father. I was f**ked up.”

Majors also said he recently opened up about the abuse to his mother, and she apologized for her failure to prevent that from happening.
“I’m like, ‘It’s not even an issue, mom. I just want you to know. And now we can all get busy and continue to connect and grow and learn from it, because it’s something that was in our family,’” he said.
Majors also said that confronting the abuse has provided him insight into how he conducts himself in relationships. “There are no excuses, but by getting help, you begin to understand things about yourself,” he stated.
Majors faced a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail, but the Manhattan district attorney’s office did not seek jail time. His sentencing also came after a judge dismissed an appeal to toss his assault and harassment conviction and acquit him of the charges, Deadline reported.
Although Majors was spared jail time, the repercussions of his guilty verdict have already impacted him beyond the courtroom. The guilty verdict resulted in his removal from his Marvel role as Kang the Conqueror.
