JT, a member of American hip-hop duo, City Girls, recently launched her “No Bars Reform” initiative, which offers services to women who have served time in prison.

A statement on the organization’s website reads, “After spending almost two years in a Florida Prison before being released in 2020, JT has vowed to use her voice and platform to help other incarcerated women rehabilitate into society by assisting with resources such as therapy, job placement, social services, and housing.”

JT has had her own experience in jail after being detained and accused of aggravated identity theft in 2018, where she was given a 24-month sentence in federal prison – however, she was freed on March 7, 2020. To mark the end of her sentence, she released the freestyle, “JT First Day Out,” in late 2019.

The Miami native debuted “No Bars,” her first solo track since the aforementioned “JT First Day Out,” in conjunction with the launch of NoBarsReform.com, Vibe noted. The song, which will be on the City Girls’ upcoming studio album, has topped the iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap chart and debuted in the Top 5 of the iTunes all-genre chart.

The new single, which debuted at No. 1 on the iTunes Hip-Hop/Rap chart and made it to the top five on the media streamer’s all-genre chart, is currently trending on Twitter, according to Revolt.

According to Hiphopdx, JT disclosed that she made her freestyle “No Bars” when she was having one of those days.  She wrote, “At the time like most of the time [people] were doubting me and questioning why I wasn’t as visual and vocal as others! Not knowing me personally…”

JT has been very busy working on herself recently; she started therapy earlier this year in addition to her solo career and her non-profit organization. The famous rapper declared at the outset that she was thrilled to be taking action to enhance her mental health.
