Kai Cenat has reclaimed the record for most Twitch subscribers in a single stream. The 22-year-old American streamed continuously for 30 days, hosting guests like Snoop Dogg, Serena Williams, and Bill Nye. He amassed 727,694 subscribers, though the final count is pending Twitch’s confirmation.
Kai’s new Twitch subscriber record of 727,694 is more than double the previous record of 326,252 set by IronMouse in October, which had broken Kai’s 2023 record, according to BBC.
During the 30-day stream, Snoop Dogg called Kai on the second day to discuss his upcoming album and gave a tour of his Los Angeles home on the fourth day, made of luxuries like a recording booth, basketball court, arcade room, and casino.
A few days later, Kai had a video call with tennis legend Serena Williams, who shared her favorite fast food meals and revealed that her sister Venus is a better tennis coach due to her patience and teaching skills.
Bill Nye, the mechanical engineer famous for hosting children’s science TV shows, also joined Kai at his home. During the stream, Kai and Bill Nye conducted scientific experiments, including demonstrating how an ice cube melts faster on a metallic surface compared to a plastic one.
These continuous streams, known as subathons, aim to boost subscriber numbers.
Kai’s event, named Mafiathon 2 in honor of his “Kai Mafia” subscribers, saw viewers purchasing subscriptions to support him, with Twitch taking a portion of the proceeds.
Kai, who has over 15 million subscribers, pledged to donate 20% of the earnings from his marathon stream towards building a school in Nigeria.
Subathons are meant to be continuous, with guests covering for Kai during his breaks. However, the stream was interrupted when police responded to a hoax emergency call at his home.
