Kai Cenat became the latest celebrity to be “swatted,” with the incident happening while he was livestreaming in a Beverly Hills mansion on Monday.
“Swatting” refers to the act of calling authorities to falsely report a crime happening at a specific address. The aim is to get law enforcement officials to respond to the location in question, but the consequences of “swatting” could be very grave.
Per TMZ, law enforcement sources said an anonymous individual called authorities on Monday night to falsely claim that a violent crime had occurred at the Beverly Hills mansion where Cenat, 23, was livestreaming.
The caller claimed that they shot their mother with a rifle in their possession, and they had also bound their kid sister. The caller is said to have named Cenat’s mansion as the place where the crime occurred. The caller, in an attempt to convince authorities that the report wasn’t false, also produced the sound of gunshots in the background.
Sources informed the entertainment news outlet that police officers ultimately made their way to the address and spoke with Cenat’s security team upon arrival. The popular streamer’s security team then informed police that they did not know about the alleged crime, but they would notify the individuals inside the mansion.

At a certain point in his live stream, Cenat is said to have made mention of the swatting incident. “We’re about to get swatted,” the 23-year-old said.
And though Kim Kardashian had earlier joined Cenat in his live stream, she was seemingly not in the mansion at the time the swatting call was made, TMZ reported.
In August, fellow streamer DDG was briefly detained while he was livestreaming a paintball tournament after he was similarly swatted, Face2Face Africa reported.
Per TMZ Hip Hop, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said that the incident occurred at an address in Castaic, which is north of Los Angeles. An unknown person is said to have called authorities to the address, claiming that an adult male armed with a firearm was brandishing and firing shots, as well as threatening to hurt the people near him.
Sheriff’s deputies, who responded to the address, pulled out their guns before they placed DDG in handcuffs and temporarily detained him. The incident happened while DDG, born Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., was livestreaming on his channel.
Authorities did not arrest anyone at the scene, and authorities ultimately established that the 911 call was false. There was also no armed individual at the scene, and no one appeared to be a threat at the location. DDG, 27, was eventually uncuffed.
