Kendrick Lamar is racking up more victories following his Super Bowl performance, becoming the first rapper to have three albums in the top ten of the Billboard album list simultaneously.

According to Billboard, the 37-year-old’s most recent album, GNX, returns to the number one spot; it debuted atop the list in December. DAMN, his 2017 album, is at number nine, and m.A.A.d city, the nice kid from 2012 is at number ten.

According to the site, Lamar is the first surviving male musician to have three albums in the top ten since Herb Alpert in 1966.

Unsurprisingly, Taylor Swift, who had five albums in the top 10 at the same time in 2023, was the most recent artist to reach the milestone. Prince also had three albums in the top 10 on May 7, 2016, after he died on April 21, 2016. On the May 14 chart, he had five albums.

Before Lamar, Justin Timberlake’s 2018 Man of the Woods album, which debuted at the top of the chart on February 17, was the last time a Super Bowl halftime artist was No. 1 on the Billboard 200 following their halftime performance. The set was released on February 2, 2018, two days before his February 4 Super Bowl LII appearance in Minneapolis.

Will Ferrell and Ana Gasteyer’s rendition of “Not Like Us” on Saturday Night Live, meanwhile, sustained Lamar’s post-Super Bowl success.

Ferrell and Gasteyer revisited their iconic roles as music instructors Marty and Bobbi Culp to perform a variety of contemporary favorites at the 50th anniversary special of the sketch comedy show.

Although Lamar did not make an appearance on the Saturday Night Live special, he performed “Not Like Us” and other hits during his historic Super Bowl halftime show earlier this month, which attracted a large audience. An incredible 133.5 million people watched the performance, which included appearances by SZA, Mustard, Serena Williams, and Samuel L. Jackson.
