On-fire rapper Doechii took to social media to shut down rumors that she lip-synched during her stellar live performance at the 2025 Grammys. The NISSAN ALTIMA rapper’s performance was one of the highlights of the night as her set incorporated well-executed choreography as well as acrobatics.
The 26-year-old rapper in her Saturday video on TikTok stated that she did not lip-sync, adding that she worked really hard to pull that performance off.
“I can’t possibly get on here and say this calmly or nicely: y’all are stupid as hell,” the Tampa, Florida native said, per PEOPLE. “So slow! That is my DJ’s voice picking up on the lines that I can’t say because I’m doing A SOMERSAULT.”
“That entire performance was live!” she added. “I was sick as a dog with bronchitis and the flu, performing my ass off in a straddle on top of human men.”
The rapper also disclosed that the microphone was initially amplifying the sound of the beads she had worn. “[I] worked my ass off to build the stamina for that, for y’all to play in my face,” she stated. “I don’t lip-sync. Don’t ever f—ing play with me like that. Ever!”
During an interview at the event with reporters in the press room, Doechii provided more details about what her performance entailed. “This performance is one of the most difficult performances I’ve ever done and I really felt a need to push myself harder than I ever had to before,” she revealed.
“It meant everything to me, too,” she added. “[I] proved myself tonight — to me —and so it was about rapping, theater and art, and I think I brought that to the stage,” she added.

Besides acing her performance, Doechii also had another thing to smile about as her Alligator Bites Never Heal mixtape won Best Rap Album, making her the third female in history to achieve that Grammy feat.
“I put my heart and my soul into this mixtape. I bared my life. I went through so much,” she said in her acceptance speech, per PEOPLE. “I dedicated myself to sobriety and God told me I would be rewarded. And I have to thank God.”
Doechii in her speech also sent out some words of encouragement to fellow Black women. “I know that there is some Black girl out there. So many Black women out there that are watching me right now. And I want to tell you, you can do it. Anything is possible. Anything is possible,” she said.
“Don’t allow anybody to project any stereotypes on you that tell you that you can’t be here, that you’re too dark or that you’re not smart enough, or that you’re too dramatic or you’re too loud,” she added. “You are exactly who you need to be to be right where you are and I am a testimony.”
