A man named Anthony McCants has been charged with felony child endangerment after forcing a 12-year-old boy in Ohio into ice baths which led to his death.
23-year-old McCants is reportedly a family friend of the boy Jadako Taylor, whose death is on his hands after handing out punishments that made no sense in Akron.
On Saturday, cops responded to a report of a heart attack at 2:30 pm.
Taylor was transported to Akron Children’s Hospital after suffering a seizure while performing the punishment afforded him by McCants.
Minutes later, he was pronounced dead at the hospital, and his family and authorities say McCants will be paying dearly for it..
The alleged family friend forced Taylor into two ice baths 45 minutes before his passing as per a criminal complaint obtained by KGNS.
According to a Daily Mail report, McCants allegedly forced Taylor into the ice baths for more than 30 minutes each time between 5 am and 2 pm.
A PEOPLE report indicated that the first ice bath was allegedly 45 minutes long.
Taylor was allegedly forced to do pushups in between the baths and more complex punishment before he began to throw up and seized, according to the complaint.
The Ohio boy’s body temperature got to a low of 74 degrees Fahrenheit, which is 21 degrees below that when hypothermia occurs in the body at 95 degrees.
‘First responders arrived on scene and discovered a 12-year-old boy unresponsive and McCants’ treatment of Taylor was described as ‘corporal punishment,’ the complaint claimed.
A family member posted on Facebook: ‘I usually have a lot to say but this has taken my air. I had just made you pizza and then a few hours later you are gone.I don’t have any answers so please don’t ask… Jadako is Angel and will be forever missed.’
Around 4 pm on Saturday, the man responsible for the death of the Ohio boy was arrested about 15 minutes after Taylor was pronounced dead, as per jail records.
