Yannick was born on November 15, 2003, in Kinshasa, DR. Congo, and was a former goalkeeper of a youth football team in Kinshasa before switching to basketball to play for ‘New Generation’ in Kinshasa. He moved to Italy in 2017, where he played for Stella Azzura Roma, and then moved to Spain to play for Unicaja Malaga.
He was selected 54th overall by the Washington Wizards in the 2022 NBA draft while still under contract with Unicaja. He is currently on loan at Real Betis in the Liga ACB. Yannick has played about 780 minutes in 69 games in three seasons (2021 – 2023).
