Serge Ibaka (Congo)

Position: Power forward/center

Height: 2.11m

Serge Jonás Ibaka Ngobila was born on September 18, 1989, in Brazzaville, Congo, where he began his career at a very young age with Avenir du Rail. He later joined the junior team and senior team of Inter Club, from where he played in the 2006 FIBA Africa Clubs Championship Cup. He moved to France at the age of 17 and then to Spain. Serge was selected 24th overall in the 2008 NBA draft by the Seattle Supersonics, making him the first Congolese player to be selected in the draft.

Serge has played for several clubs in the NBA and is currently playing for Indiana Pacers. He played for the Congo national team before switching to Spain, and has played about 919 games – starting in 697 games with about 27.3 minutes per game from the 2009/10 to 2022/23 regular seasons. His basic salary is around $2,905,851 for the 2022/23 season. Serge’s parents also played basketball for Congo.
