Charles Henry Langston

Charles Henry Langston and his brother Gideon were the first African Americans to access graduate education from the Oberlin College in Ohio, as reported by DBpedia. He was a fearless political activist and abolitionist. He was actively involved in civil rights campaigns in Ohio and later Kansas during the American Civil War era. He championed equal rights, voting rights and education of African Americans in Ohio and Kansas. He became the first Black person to hold a position in the United States Congress from Virginia and the last for nearly a century.
