Edward Jones

Edward Jones was also an individual of African descent to become the principal of the Fourah Bay College from 1841 to 1859. He was the first African American to graduate from Massachusetts College. He was an Afro-American missionary to Sierra Leone. He was passionate, according to the Dictionary of African Christian Biography, about empowering the Black person through education. He is known to have advocated against the inaccurate narrative championed by European missionaries in Sierra Leone and pushed the frontiers to segregate missionary work.
