Though Lil Wayne has made it clear that he holds no ill will against Kendrick Lamar, it appears he is still hurt about not being approached to perform at the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show.
After Kendrick, 37, was tapped to perform at one of the most watched sports events, Lil Wayne, 42, made it publicly known that he was hurt by the decision of the event’s organizers. The Lollipop rapper’s fans also shared the same sentiments – particularly because this year’s Super Bowl was held in his native hometown of New Orleans.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Lil Wayne stated that the the NFL “f**ked up” by snubbing him and rather opting to book Kendrick to perform at the event.
The 42-year-old also provided a supposed overview of the conditions that are tabled for an artist to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show, stating that to mount that stage, “it’s a bunch of things they’re going to tell you to do and not do, asses to kiss and not kiss.”
Lil Wayne additionally said that he had been initially up and about to ensure he got the nod to perform at the event. “If you notice, I was a part of things I’ve never been a part of. Like [Michael] Rubin’s all-white parties. I’m doing sh*t with Tom Brady. That was all for that,” he revealed.

“You ain’t never seen me in them types of venues,” he added. “I ain’t Drake. I ain’t out there smiling like that everywhere. I’m in the [studio], smokin’ and recording.”
The A Milli rapper also claimed the NFL later reached out to him and apologized for snubbing him, adding that the sports organization does not handle that aspect of the event. Jay-Z’s Roc Nation imprint is contracted to handle the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
“All of a sudden, according to them, they got curved,” he claimed. “So, I’m going to have to just settle with whatever they say.”
Lil Wayne said he ultimately opted not to watch Kendrick gracing the stage. “Every time I looked, it was nothing that made me want to go inside and see what was going on.”
He also admitted that it “hurt a lot” when he was snubbed. “I blamed myself for not being mentally prepared for a let down, which is automatically mentally putting myself in that position like somebody told me that was my position. So I blamed myself for that,” he stated.
Lil Wayne also made it clear that he’ll never accept any invitation to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. “They stole that feeling,” he said. “I don’t want to do it. It was perfect.”
