Meet the five youngest women to hold parliamentary positions in Africa

Hlomela Bucwa

Bucwa is a former member of the Student Representative Council (SRC) and former President of the SRC of the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. She made history in 2016 as the youngest MP in South Africa at age 24, when she was sworn into parliament on November 10, 2016, under the Democratic Alliance Party. She was still a law student at the time she was sworn into parliament.
