Megan Thee Stallion has announced the official poster and release date for her first documentary, “In Her Words”. The 29-year-old rapper wrote on Instagram on Monday, “I’m nervous and excited for yall to see it butttt it’s finally here.”

The documentary, which “unpacks Megan’s most vulnerable moments in a powerful way that allows fans to meet the real Megan Pete,” and follows Megan through her meteoric ascent to fame in hip-hop and beyond, will debut on Prime Video on October 31 in time for her yearly Hottieween celebration.

Nigerian-American filmmaker Nneka Onuorah, who previously directed the eight-episode Lizzo series “Watch Out for the Big Grrrls” and the documentary The Legend of the Underground, directed Megan’s nearly two-hour film.

Megan’s documentary comes after she released her self-titled third studio album, “MEGAN,” through her own independent company, Hot Girl Productions. She left her previous labels, 1501 Entertainment and 300 Entertainment, in 2023.

The album, which debuted at the top of the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, gave rise to the bilingual duet with Japanese rapper Yuki Chiba, “Mamushi,” and the three reptilian-themed singles, “Cobra,” “Hiss,” and “Boa.” Megan embarked on a North American tour, supported by Erica Banks and GloRilla.

Megan had an incredible rise in the late 2010s, but 2019 was the year that altered everything for her, according to Rolling Stone. Her breakout hit, “Big Ole Freak,” from her Tina Snow EP served as the catalyst for her follow-up mixtape, Fever, which was a huge hit for her characteristic Hot Girl Summer trend. However, Megan’s mother, Holly-Wood, a Houston rapper who subsequently became her manager, died of brain cancer earlier that year. Her great-grandmother also passed away after two weeks.

While pursuing her bachelor’s degree in health management from Texas Southern University, Megan continued to expand her career empire.

She demonstrated that she had an unbreakable success with “Savage” in March 2020, as the world succumbed to the pandemic. A month later, Beyoncé remixed the song, winning a Grammy Award. She released two more records that year that helped shape her career: the solo track “Girls in the Hood” and her appearance on Cardi B’s bawdy viral single “WAP.” Since then, her career has taken off.
