GRAMMY-winning superstar Megan Thee Stallion has announced that she will host the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, set to take place on September 11 at New York’s UBS Arena.
This marks a major milestone in Megan’s career, as she becomes only the second person to transition from performer to host of the main event, according to Essence.
2024 has been a groundbreaking year for Megan, highlighted by the release of her latest album, MEGAN, and the success of her “Hot Girl Summer Tour.” The album features notable collaborations with artists like Victoria Monét, GloRilla, UGK, Big K.R.I.T., Kyle Richh, and Yuki Chiba, solidifying Megan’s position as a powerhouse in the music industry.
Her recent single, “MAMUSHI,” has also made waves, amassing over 150 million streams and claiming the top spot on Spotify’s Global Viral chart in Japan.
Megan’s momentum continued with her third Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit, “HISS,” which made history as the first solo female rap song to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200.
At the 2024 VMAs, Megan, 29, is nominated for five awards, including “Best Collaboration” with GloRilla and “Best Hip Hop.” She previously won the “Best Hip Hop” category in 2020 for her hit “Savage (Remix)” featuring Beyoncé.
While Megan is no stranger to the spotlight, having hosted Saturday Night Live and co-hosted The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, this will be her first time hosting an awards show, showcasing her diverse talents beyond music.
She recently turned heads with her performance at Kamala Harris’ Atlanta rally at Georgia State University’s Convocation Center, where she performed “Mamushi” in a royal blue pantsuit.
With five nominations and the honor of hosting, Megan Thee Stallion is poised to make headlines at the upcoming VMAs. She took to social media platform X to announce the news, confident she will live up to expectations in style.
