Megan Thee Stallion is preparing to host the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards with a staggering “500” clothes. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE ahead of the annual awards show on Wednesday, September 11, the 29-year-old rapper shared what she’s most looking forward to about the music-centric event.
“I’m excited to change clothes 500 times. I’m excited to perform. I’m excited to see all the Hotties,” Megan said.
“I love New York, I can’t wait to be there again and eat all the food, and I’m excited for people to see what I bring to the table while hosting,” the Grammy winner added.
MTV recently announced that Megan will host this year’s VMAs, taking over from Nicki Minaj, who hosted the previous two ceremonies.
Megan, nominated for five awards, including best collaboration for “Wanna Be” with GloRilla and best hip-hop for “Boa,” describes hosting the VMAs and her new Pepsi ad featuring NFL stars Travis Kelce and Josh Allen as “very iconic moments” in her career.
“I’m like, ‘OK, now you all better stop acting like I’m not famous around here because I’m doing all the things,’ “ Megan said with a laugh. “This is going to be so iconic, and it’s going to be great. I can’t wait for everybody to see it.”
Taylor Swift leads the 2024 MTV VMA nominations with 10, followed by Post Malone with nine. Sabrina Carpenter, Eminem, and Ariana Grande each received six nominations. Katy Perry will be honored with the Video Vanguard Award and is set to perform a medley of hits, along with new material from her upcoming album, “143.”
This year’s VMAs will feature performances by Sabrina Carpenter, Eminem, GloRilla, Anitta, Benson Boone, Camila Cabello, Chappell Roan, Halsey, Karol G, LL Cool J, Lenny Kravitz, LISA of Blackpink, Shawn Mendes, and Rauw Alejandro.
The 2024 MTV VMAs will be broadcast live from UBS Arena in New York at 8 p.m. ET.
