Miami Beach no longer wants to be affiliated with Sean “Diddy” Combs as his Key to the City was formally rescinded by city officials on October 30. This adds up to other honors that have been stripped off the embattled music executive as he battles his legal issues.

Per TMZ, Miami Beach Mayor Steven Meiner and the city commission on October 30 attended an in-person hearing where they unanimously voted to revoke Combs’ Key to the City. The ceremonial key was bestowed upon Combs by Miami Beach in 2015 for his contributions to the music industry and for playing a part in the Revolt Music Conference being held in the city.

The key being taken away from Combs also came after Miami Beach similarly rescinded its decision to reserve a day in his honor, Face2Face Africa reported in July.

The resolution from Miami Beach’s mayor and city commission authorities to rescind “Sean Diddy Combs Day” on October 13 was obtained by NBC 6 South Florida on June 26. That decision also came after the 55-year-old returned the keys to New York City after Mayor Eric Adams asked him to do so at the beginning of June.

Combs came under public scrutiny after CNN shared a video of him assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016. The rapper and music executive had initially denied allegations of rape and abuse from Cassie. But he later issued an apology on social media after the circulation of the video.

Federal agents on September 16 ultimately arrested the Bad Boy Records founder and charged with sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution. Combs, who entered a not-guilty plea, is being held without bail at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. His trial date has been set for May 5, 2025. But Combs is additionally facing multiple sexual assault lawsuits.
