The fourth debate in the series leading up to the primaries to nominate a presidential candidate for the Democratic Party will be held in the plush new studios built by Tyler Perry in Atlanta, Georgia.
AJC.com reports that the party overlooked the suburbs of Sandy Springs for the $250 million entertainment establishment.
The November 20 debate will be hosted by MSNBC and Washington Post and will feature newcomer Tom Steyer along with poll favourites Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.
Perry threw a star-studded party to commemorate the opening of his $250 million film studio in Atlanta on October 5.
The event showcased the best of black Hollywood guests, including Perry’s mentor and friend Oprah Winfrey, Halle Berry, Taraji P. Henson, Jill Scott, Whoopi Goldberg, Keshia Knight Pulliam and Cecily Tyson.
He said at the party, “If I can build studios on this land that was once a confederate army base…”
The crowd burst into applause, given the history behind the land used for the studios.
Perry added, “We all get to stand here equally — black, white, whatever — this is the American dream.”
