Nigerian designer Duro Olowu has been collaborating with J.C. Penny on a limited-edition collection that will be available spring 2013. He will be the first “seasonal designer” for the major department store. The collection is a mixture of prints and colors for everyday women.

In an interview with InStyle.com, Olowu said, “I’ve always tried to give women a sense of inner beauty with joy, and now it’s just the right time to make that more democratic. When I was thinking about this collection, I wanted to give American classic shapes and ideas a global flair.” This makes perfect sense with him being a favorite of First Lady Michelle Obama, who has been seen in his designs on several occasions.

For this new collection Olowu even brought in other talented artists, including Bella Foster for the prints and Iris Apfel for the colorful bags and necklaces. The vibrant collection includes skirts, blouses, accessories, notebooks and luggages ranging from $10 to $100.

Head to J.C. Penny from March through May 2013 to see for yourself, but check out InStyle.com’s photos of the collection.
