Nigerian author, business, and policy strategist, Ernest Omo-Ojo, recently achieved a historic feat when he won the Herzing College Cup – an award that recognizes the overall best skilled and talented student of the globally-respected Herzing Institution.

According to Prime Business Africa, Kevin Crupi, the President of the Herzing College, Ottawa Campus, Canada, recognized Omo-Ojo as the first student from the Ottawa Campus of Herzing College to ever win the prestigious award since the inception of the award three decades ago.

The Herzing College Cup is a competition for students across all campuses of the Institution, including its campuses in the United States, and comprises submissions from all campuses nominating their best or most excellent students each year to a panel of as many as 40 to 50 judges. However, the award landed on the Ottawa Campus for the first time in its 30th edition, thanks to the amazing effort of Omo-Ojo.

The road to success has not been an easy one for the Nigerian scholar. In June 2019, he was allegedly sacked unlawfully by ExxonMobil, one of the largest integrated fuels, lubricants, and chemical companies in the world where he worked for almost 20 years.

He accused ExxonMobil of terminating his appointment without recourse to due process, and sued the company in 2020, demanding $215, 000 as damages for the unlawful sack. According to Omo-Ojo, he got disengaged because he authored a faith-based book and for his interest in the position of Vice President of a cooperative society.

Ernest Omo-Ojo is the author of two books – ‘The Potent Force of Sponsorship’ and ‘The Audacious Faith.’
