The Miss Africa USA Pageant grand finale which took place on Saturday June 29 2013 at the Fillmore Theater in Silver Spring Maryland attracted a very diverse audience from across the continent of Africa, The United States and Canada.
The huge Performing Art Center was full at its capacity of 1200 as everyone watched on the edge of their seats as each finalist from the 21 African Nations represented took to the Stage to contest for the coveted crown. Miss Kathy Onwu who hails from Enugu State in Nigeria, currently resident in Nashville TN, USA emerged as the Queen. It was certainly a very tough competition as described by the Judges and Audience. The top 5 were Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea.
Kathy Onwu is a 25 years Old Registered Nurse Pursuing a Masters Degree to further her career as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Her Mission is to campaign and raise awareness about Breast Cancer, prevention and treatment as well as promote education and health in Africa and The United States.
