Cameron Robinson has attained a significant milestone at the age of twelve. He received an associate of arts degree from Florida State College Jacksonville on Thursday.
Dual enrollment allows Robinson, who started attending college when he was 7 years old, to continue his middle school education.
He told 11ALive, “My friends are always like, ‘what? You’re graduating college?’ And they don’t believe me whenever I tell them. So it’s definitely a cool experience.”
The preteen stated that his lecturers treated him just like any other student. He also highlighted how FSCJ taught him social skills that will be useful when he attends college to acquire a bachelor’s degree.
Robinson informed the publication that his father had taught him algebra when he was around five years old. He attributes his passion for mathematics to his father, who pushed him to improve in the subject after introducing him to it.
The young genius remembered teaching arithmetic to one of his school instructors, who also graduated from FSCJ.
He will forgo high school completely in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, moving on to enroll in Calculus 3 at UNF. He hopes to attend MIT one day.
Robinson shared that he was passionate about football and basketball in addition to academics.
