Kim Kardashian and her mother, Kris Jenner, have filed a defamation lawsuit against Ray J after the singer claimed that authorities had launched a federal criminal racketeering investigation against the plaintiffs.
Per TMZ, Kardashian, 44, and Jenner, 69, claim that Ray J’s recent comments add up to a campaign he has waged against them over the last ten years. The lawsuit alleges that Ray J, 44, is “unable to accept the end of his fleeting relationship with Ms. Kardashian over 20 years ago.”
Kardashian and Ray J dated several years ago, and the former couple made headlines after their sex tape was leaked in 2007. Kardashian and Jenner, in their lawsuit, are claiming that the One Wish singer has targeted them on multiple occasions for his personal benefit.
The lawsuit also highlights TMZ‘s Tubi doc, United States vs. Sean Combs, in which Ray J claims that he “might believe it” if he were told that the “Kardashians was being charged for racketeering.”
The plaintiffs claim that Ray J’s statement “was designed to plant the seed.” They also made mention of comments he made about them during a September 24 live stream with Chrisean Rock, alleging that Ray J lied about the Kardashians being subject to a federal investigation.
“The feds is coming, there’s nothing I can do about it. It’s worse than Diddy,” the 44-year-old claimed.
Kardashian and Jenner further state that they’re not the only celebrities Ray J has lied about, as he previously claimed to have had an intimate relationship with rapper Sexyy Red, TMZ reported.
Sexyy Redd later sent Ray J a private message, and she shared a screenshot of the singer’s response. “You know I playin I’m always trolling and you know I love you … sorry if you mad at me,” Ray J partly told her. The 44-year-old later apologized to Sexyy Red on camera.
Kardashian and Jenner claim that they have suffered “substantial and ongoing harm to their personal and professional reputation” from Ray J’s actions. They are therefore seeking undisclosed compensatory and punitive damages.
“Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian have never brought a defamation claim before nor have they been distracted by noise — but this false and serious allegation left no choice,” Kardashian and Jenner’s attorney, Alex Spiro, told the entertainment news outlet.
Ray J also responded to the lawsuit, saying that he “will not be silenced.”
