Barbadian singer, Rihanna, has joined the UK’s rich list for the first time with her estimated $600 million fortune. The singer who recently moved to London surpassed Elton John and Mick Jagger, claiming third place in the UK musician category of The Sunday Times Rich List.
According to Robert Watts, who compiled the list, Rihanna’s entry “somewhat caught us by surprise”. He told the BBC, “she is well placed to be the first musician to reach billionaire status in the UK.”
Despite not releasing an album since Anti, in 2016, her $600 million fortune can largely be attributed to her partnership with French luxury goods brand, LVMH.
According to The Independent, their cosmetics label Fenty Beauty is valued at $3 billion, with the 32-year-old having a reported 15% stake worth more than $400m.
The top 40 highest earners include singers, Ed Sheeran and Adele with fortunes valued at $242m and $181m respectively.
Rihanna broke into worldwide fame with the release of her first single, Pon De Replay.
At 22, she became the only female artist in the history of the US Billboard chart to score four No 1 singles in a calendar year, The Guardian reported.
