RZA’s initial word may come across as casual, but there is an intriguing backstory to the first word. This was disclosed by Rihanna during an Interview cover story with her former stylist, Mel Ottenberg.
RZA’s first word wasn’t “Mom” or “Dad” but “Hey”. Rihanna revealed that she used to seek his attention persistently with a repetitive phrase “Hey, hey, hey.”
“And one day, he said it back to me in the same melody, and I kept singing it, and he kept following it over and over again,” she said.
In her interview, Rihanna shared insights into her children, RZA and Riot Rose, born in May 2022 and August 2023 respectively, and her bond with them, as reported by Teen Vogue.
While Riot’s first word remains a mystery due to his young age, Rihanna revealed her enjoyment in dressing up her children stylishly.
The singer and entrepreneur explained that “everybody thinks Rocky dresses them,” but she’s actually the mastermind behind the babies’ outfits. “I [just] dress them in Rocky outfits,” she said.
Revealing her approach to maintaining their family’s stylish image, the beauty mogul said she has quite an extensive collection of baby clothes, meticulously organized and passed down from RZA to Riot.
“I have racks, I have bags. They’re all sized and organized, and then whatever gets too small for RZA, I put into bins so that Riot can have them next,” she said, before revealing that “Riot is actually in all of RZA’s 1-year-old clothes already [and] he’s only six months.”
She noted that they are eagerly awaiting to discover if Riot’s first word will match his brother’s coolness.
